Ancient Wisdom for Modern Health

For centuries, Indian kitchens ran on wood-pressed oils — and science is now confirming what our ancestors always knew. When oil is pressed slowly at low temperatures using a wooden ghani, every natural compound stays intact. No heat damage. No chemical interference. Just pure, living oil the way nature made it.

Nutrients your body actually absorbs

Refined oils are heated beyond 200°C, destroying vitamins and antioxidants in the process. Wood-pressed oils retain their full natural vitamin E, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and antioxidants — exactly as they exist in the seed. Your body recognises and uses these far more effectively than anything processed.

Heart health, the traditional way

Wood-pressed groundnut, sesame, and mustard oils are naturally rich in mono-unsaturated and poly-unsaturated fats — the kind that support healthy cholesterol levels. Indian communities that maintained traditional diets with ghani-pressed oils had some of the lowest rates of lifestyle disease. The oil wasn't the problem. Refining it was.

No hidden chemicals, ever

Commercial oil refining uses hexane (a petroleum solvent) to extract oil, then bleaches and deodorises it with more chemicals. Traces remain in the final product. Wood-pressed oil uses nothing but mechanical pressure — seed goes in, pure oil comes out. That's the entire process.

Digestion and gut health

Traditional Ayurvedic practice has long recommended wood-pressed oils for their digestibility. The natural phospholipids and enzymes present in unrefined oils support the gut lining and aid fat absorption — benefits that disappear entirely once oil is refined and stripped.

Every bottle of Agriim oil is pressed the same way it was a thousand years ago — because some things don't need improving.

Story

Somewhere between industrial food production and the supermarket shelf, Indian cooking lost something important — the rich, nutty aroma of freshly pressed oil. The kind that used to fill every kitchen, pressed slowly in a wooden ghani by a village mill.

Agriim started with a simple question: why does our cooking oil have an ingredients list? Oil is a seed. That's it. So we went back to the source — wooden presses, quality seeds, no shortcuts. What comes out the other end is something your grandparents would recognise immediately.

We are a small team that believes real food shouldn't need a chemistry degree to understand. Every bottle of Agriim oil is made the same way it always was — and that's exactly the point.
